Trains, Planes, and Those Fast Autos.

I have an inner need to be a hitchhiker – to the cargo trucks & pickups that carried mangoes in the summertime.
Being brought somewhere unknown was exciting, but scary. It was a quiet solemn unravel to the plains that covered the lands heightened by the trek.

And maybe a real hone to the thought was made responsible by the whole whoddunnit mysteries of childhood: Nancy Drew, hardy boys, Sherlock Holmes, Scooby Doo – but mostly a solitary version of ending up alive in those Choose Your Own Adventure books. This made the whole understanding of where the culprit lies and what was the getaway vehicle painted a life’s experience of running when evil deed was done to, and escapism ensues instead of facing the control of the adventure of your life. Hopefully, there are people who can turn those pages and make the valuation for your do-over re-write & the 15-bucks of a book should’ve been shot towards the happier meal that plans the meetup more intentionally. Not a regrettable read, just that it contained less of a map of life & leads you the learning that is someone else’s 15-bucks of a fake scenario. That’s a movie, popcorn and pizza.

So on that plane, there could be thousands of real passengers of thought influenced & inspired, where would that incline them towards – the real danger is to not endanger them to look past their capacity and make a cheap pass at promoting your own agendas, maybe the objectivity of being taken away and mobile, moving towards something at a pace all to your own, will more or less be a good gauge of where this brings them overall? Maybe the trains carry as far, as fast and route-wise, we are rooted to carry out all the missions – like filling out the life prescriptions that aim to cure perceived ails of a life not by your own hand?

There are no 5-cent definitive guides, no perl-y scripts of wisdom that translate scrolls invisible, there are no vintage screen-printed pinup posters that remind you to live that life or this life, one that you are meant to have, if that exists – and there are no pants charming enough that gets better as it’s worn. (Wait, I think there are actually my beat up Girbauds and Evisus that hover in my favourites trunk).

Advisory boards or not, listen to your mother and list everything down, o listless ones. Mine kept a diary, smoked her cigarettes, cooked her specialty stews, and told the tales that ushered me to plan, play my checkers, & that keeping to the road kept most wary is best.

M-dashed-O: a theory in markets.

Thoughts into where the pressure of society meets actual Products sold, ignites both curiosity and regurgitation of having no real standard of quality and understanding where time can actually take you, your brand and products further than a mere “me-too”. Maybe it’s a taste perception, or depending exactly on what people are accustomed to, the general economy, and what people are used to and would put up with. The service of what is, is not dependent on what’s out there but on what should.

Lest I digress further, the Product perceived is exactly the kind of marketing that includes place, (where it is located), price (how much you ask people to spare another purchase in their day), position (where it is in everyone’s attention grid), purpose (this one is by me – along the way you need to be rooted where it matters). So however illusory these concepts are, it is what makes up the conversion and retention that classically occurs in the increasing whimsy of each person that is presented with more options in each passing of time. The more meaning a product has, the less time it takes to make a decision for purchase (and exchange, in the reverse process).

I’m sitting in a cafe and I just had bad coffee. Thought about the five dollars I splurged on it, and if I should have just had something else. Do I now put it off to tomorrow, walk out and put a slip in the complaint jar or get like the locals and remain half-pleased? After all, the croissant wasn’t that bad.

This occurring on a daily basis could probably feed or house a small family in Africa – the usual adage of regret (regression) economics, but I won’t modelise this one into a general corner just yet. The good that comes of time, and observation puts forth a whole host of where things have been and where it can still go – if you want. If you choose. If you say no.

What saved the day was a midway-walkout chat to Jerome, who gave me a reminisce of the startup team that was – and show we used to be working as a better-than-most structure of a social network platform at MyCube. Now it makes me think very faintly of the Ocean, and the lingering sounds of rapid prototyping, klinked flutes to glasses, and the echo of the vast vacant spot where the busy students-in-residence of the Digital Life Academy programme had left, and were no more.

The product was not as up to snuff as some of the American counterparts – but certainly the team was elegantly assembled to accommodate the risks and repel the subjection to mediocrity.
I joined another startup team in the
same position as MyCube and Rocket-funded and fuelled. In 3 months, the smaller, hotel-encased teams was able to achieve what the bigger, more well-funded team had managed to overspend and not quite do. It was a real case study in both times, runway and energy spent highly on whether workplaces are dependent on luck, team, capital or the synergy of will and force of gravity that wants it to happen.

Was it an illusion of the antitrust that happens when a complex high-level circle of people are gathered or was it an exercise in managing them, it made for an interesting time that made up for missed goals and overall objectives – where I’ve learned the painful lesson that execution, on my grid, was overrated.

Très bon lèvres teintées de sucre. Plural. (“XX,)

I think this song says it best. Lips like sugar. Sugar kisses. xx

That means, that when Justine was born this day xx years ago, there became another like mine. And when they are put to good use, they can either inspire, maim, destroy or live to tell the tale.  When obliterated by blind beliefs, they mean nothing but words will always understand that they will always put forth the concept to mind, and relay this very effectively.

Aiming to do good will always take courage, and understand what it means to rely on the fate of our gifts. These things were tethered meaningfully to do a variant amount of good – and bring fruition to whatever evil that needs to get balanced. So when you recognise your gifts, you will be able to fulfill what they had meant to bring forth. This is going to take a huge amount of sussing out what exactly these are – whether brought about by conscious profession, accidentally by a meaningful event in life, or a grave situation that nearly devastates but brings forth a lull in the growth of a person. All these, tragic and happy at the same time – were meant to complete what we need in order to become who we are.

We just need to help ourselves in its upbringing and care. When we nurture our talents, our understanding of what makes us be, we in turn nurture ourselves. And this will always create a great filling of a void that consumes us when we have nothing. Or realise that the perception of nothing – was just a mere blinding to the perpetuation of being, and then, in being something.

All these words, dripped very sweetly – enunciated slowly will be consumed very mindfully, and responsibly. So those sugar kisses are a mark to life. Life will always be perpetuated with meaning, and today, this ends with a very greek and geek meaning to live every moment well – and mark it with a greeting and a parting, with a proper closing.

Sugar kisses, xx.
